Who is 'Dollarita Steve'? SF software engineer goes viral after earthquake

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 05:03:59 GMT

SAN FRANCISCO (NEXSTAR) — It's been one rocking week for Steve Mazzari. It was just last Friday night when the 28 year-old San Francisco resident was having drinks with friends at a chain restaurant in Fisherman's Wharf when a 3.7-magnitude earthquake hit the Bay Area.Later that night, a chance encounter with Oakland news outlet KTVU Fox 2 led to Mazzari becoming an overnight viral sensation. Fresh from that evening's drinks, Mazzari agreed to do an interview about the quake."I was just slammin' Dollaritas up at the Applebee's with some friends and it was a big shake. It was only like, probably a couple of seconds. Everyone stopped talking. It was a big one," Mazzari told a KTVU crew. These are the most (and least) stolen cars as of 2023 For the uninitiated, Dollaritas are a popular limited-time promotion by Applebee's which offers $1 margaritas. This year's promotion ended Oct. 31. But thanks to Mazzari's interview, (including a sign-off that "Dollaritas are back!") the restaura...

Voters in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District will decide on two questions on Tuesday’s ballot

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 05:03:59 GMT

Voters in the St, Anthony-New Brighton School District will decide on two levy referendums Tuesday. The first question is for a $1.7 milliion a year operating levy. The levy, which would start in 2025 and run for 10 years, would fund recruitment and retention of staff and support academic achievement for students, according the district web site. If approved, an average St. Anthony home valued at $375,000 would see a property tax increase of $36 per month. The other ballot question seeks to continue a capital projects levy passed in 2014 that provides funding for classroom resources such as books, materials, computers and software. If passed, according to the district, it will not result in an additional tax impact as it renews the levy approved in 2014.More information, including how to calculate the impact of each measure on indivdual property taxes, go to: isd282.org/2023-referendumRelated ArticlesElections | 2023 Elections: What you need to know about city, school board...

This year I have this cheesy little smile on my face that I can’t get off,” midfielder Jacob Dinzeo said of his school’s first state title.Taylor Petrich added two assists for second-seeded Hill-Murray, which had lost its previous three championship game appearances, including via shootout to DeLaSalle last season.“To get a taste of it last year and have it taken from you is one of those things where you just want to get back there and have an opportunity to do it again,” Hill=Murray coach Jeff Zupfer said. “To be able to do it again and with this group of guys … We s...

Vikings at Falcons: What to know ahead of Week 9 matchup

Here are some things to know before the Vikings travel to play the Falcons in Atlanta on Sunday:Vikings at PackersWhen: 12 p.m. SundayWhere: Mercedes Benz StadiumTV: FOXRadio: KFANLine: Falcons – 3.5Over/Under: 37.5Keys for the Vikings— This will be the first NFL start for rookie quarterback Jaren Hall, and thus, it’s on head coach Kevin O’Connell to make things easier on him. Maybe that means establishing the run. Maybe that means quick passes to tight end T.J. Hockenson. Maybe that means rolling Hall out so he only has to read half of the field. Whatever the game plan is, keeping Hall comfortable will be important, especially if the Vikings want to walk away with a win.— On the flip side, the Vikings might be able to get after veteran quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who will be starting for the Falcons. He has the reputation of a gunslinger, meaning if the Vikings force him into some bad decisions, there could be turnovers waiting on the other end.Keys for the Falcons— Th...

Coach: Injuries no excuse for Wild’s rough first 10 games

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 05:03:59 GMT

The Wild got a key piece back when Matt Boldy returned Thursday from a seven-game injury absence and earned three assists. It didn’t help the Wild beat the New Jersey Devils, however, as the Wild fell to 3-5-2 this season. The team will be without Jared Spurgeon and Freddy Gaudreau again on Saturday against the New York Rangers but, coach Dean Evason said, “Who cares?”“It doesn’t matter,” he said. “The New Jersey Devils didn’t give a (darn) that Jared Spurgeon was not in the lineup or in the lineup, so what do we care? There’s 20 guys that dress for every game; you play your butt off or you’re not gonna have success.”Spurgeon, out with an upper body injury since an Oct. 4 preseason game at Chicago, practiced for a second time on Friday, and for longer than on Wednesday, but has been ruled unavailable for Saturday — the first day he is eligible to return from long-term injury reserve.Gaudreau, out with an upper body injury he tried to play through, hasn’t returned to skating.
